Fire!!!

Today I had me PSAT's which took until lunch so I missed my first three classes including my free, much to my disappointment. As soon as the PSAT was over it was time for lunch time and lucky for me I forgot to make my lunch and bring I forgot to bring some money just in case. The reason that I forgot this was that I wanted to read my book that I had just started, Inkheart. Well . . . back to my story, after lunch I had Environmental Issues (E.I.) with Mr. Sinclair who also happens to be my assistant principale. About 15 minutes into class the fire alarm went off, but lucky for me I was in the hall and had no idea of what to do, so I went back to my class and met Mr. Sinclair on the way and he quickly told me and my friend Garry that this was not a drill and to get outside. Once I was outside I talked to my friends for about 30 minutes once I was on the astroturff. At that point we were told to go into the sports hall (the bigger and niccer of the 2 gyms) until further notice. Once the Fire Bragade Marshal had made his investigation we were told the details of what had happened. Apperantly a three year old laser cutter that needed replacing cought on fire in the design technology room (positioned just below the E.I. classrom), the fire was only contained to the laser cutter, and luckly no one was hurt, however because there was alot of plastic in the cutter there were alot of toxus fumes omitted so all of my stuff is still in my classroom so i cant do anything but relax.

The Camino

Despite the earlier post i thought that my hike in the Pyrenees mountains was an amazing experience and it is an experience that i would love to do again. The only time that the weather got to me was when there was snow on the top of the mountain, but other than this experience the weather was fairly nice for Europe in the October. To me it was very nice to wake up have a nice simple breakfast and then walk in the nature all day and to me that is the best thing. The only disappointment to me was that I was only able to do so little of the Camino de Compostela. The food at the places that we stopped however was magnificent the food was very simple but very good and it filled you up quite nicely plus they were 3 meal courses and usually cost about 10 euros.

Snow: the Deception

I am now 16 and I have never seen snow before in my life. Well that used to be true until I signed up for a hike in the Parynese Mountain Range. The section of Comino de Comp Estella which is a religious pilgrimage to Comp Estella de Santiago in Spain, we started in Biarritz in France and did about the first 3 days of hiking. On the first day we had to hike over the top of a mountain, unfortunately it was 1400 meters up so when it rained on the way up it was freezing. Once we got to the top it was sort of level and we began to walk over the top. Unfortunately for me I only had 2 windbreakers and a disposable poncho when it started to rain again, or at least that’s what I thought. Only when I realized that it hurt when it hit me that it was snow, and this wasn’t nice fluffy snow it was razor sharp shards of ice like snow. To make things worse for me the wind was blowing extremely hard, and while everyone had anticipated this I was COLD and WET and MISERSBLE. My opinion on snow that I have finally seen it is that it SUCKS!!!!! And all the TV shows it make seem all nice and cool but in reality it is freezing cold, it hurts, and it officially sucks!

Mickey's House

Last weekend I went to my friend Mickey’s house, and once again I was jealous of one of my friend’s houses. I mean come on I am here because my dad is with the embassy, the embassy! What ever happened to all those fancy houses that embassy employees have in the movies. I think they filmed them all at houses owned by Oil companies because their houses are nice, big, have marble floors, and they all have pools. My house, a concrete block that’s connected to another concrete block, the only plus side is that we live right across from my brother’s school JIS Pattimura and it is quicker to walk to Ratu Plaza (the mall were you get all your movies, games, game stations, and stuff like that) than it is to drive. Any ways once we got there we all kind of dropped our bags and raced to take control of a computer with internet so that we could play WOW (World of Warcraft). After a couple of hours we took out some poker chips and proceeded to play Texas Hold’em for about three, four hours. By then it was time to eat spaghetti so we quickly ate and then rested on the couches to watch Family Guy. After five episodes we went back to WOW for hours and we then went to bed at twelve twenty five. Once we all woke up we tried to install Oblivion and we succeeded because we are that awesome! After that my friend Riley and I ran back and forth between the two computers helping the person playing because we have both played it before and if I may say so it is an awesome game! Unfortunately it was four-thirty before I knew it and my dad was there to take me home so I left with the proposal that we should do it again sometime soon at someone else’s house.

Mel's Party at PIM

It’s me again; I just thought that I should put another blog. Last Friday I went with my friends to PIM a local big mall that is like the malls in the states. They decided to go to celebrate my friend Mel’s birthday, and I was invited just before the bus left so I barely made the trip. However the mall was well worth it, we had a lot of fun there and I went into a photo booth for the first. Well it wasn’t exactly a photo booth it was more like a photo booth room because there was too many of us to fit in a booth. We also saw the new movie “Jumper” in the premium theatre. I am really glad that my parents decided to let me go because we all had fun. In other news I found another blog that is by another Dakota which my mom and I thought was cool!

Softball and Other Things

I recently started trying out for softball at my school. I realized that this was my last chance to make the Varsity team and I think that I am fairly good at it, so I decided to give it a shot. So far I have liked it and I think that I will at least make that JV team and I really, really hope that I make the Varsity team because I want one of those cool bags you don’t get anywhere else. If I make the JV team then my Biology Core teacher Dr. Piers will be my coach then I can annoy him every day after school and every other day in class. I like it though I have some of my friends trying out with me and it is a way to have fun, exercise, and get to know more people at the same time. In other news I tried out for the lead role in a play which shows in April about two weekends ago and I found out last week that I did not make it unfortunately, but hey I am not complaining because tomorrow is the last day of the week and it is Tuesday. This due to the Chinese New Year and on Thursday my family leaves early in the morning to go to the sailing club, which I think is awesome. Also I recently got some scuba equipment from John Harding who lives at the other end of the compound. He gave me a BCD (Bouncy Control Device), Fins, a dive depth watch and the two regulators (one is for normal use and the other is the backup one incase someone runs out of oxygen and the two of you need to share the tank to get to the surface) and all of this for free! When I got home and David told me that this was several hundred dollars worth of equipment I was shocked that John gave it to me for free.
